The Dialog is thrilled to announce our new sponsorship from the Teacher Education Division (TED) and TED’s Early Childhood Faculty Special Interest Group (TeDeC)!

This exciting new partnership is a direct result of collaboration between the Early Childhood Faculty SIG and The Dialog in response to a critical need for dissemination outlets for early childhood research aimed at supporting personnel development. 

The Early Childhood Faculty SIG (also known as TeDeC), one of TED’s special interest groups, emphasizes teacher education generally, but provides a forum to communicate and connect with faculty colleagues around issues related specifically to special education and early childhood. The Dialog is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal centered in early childhood (prenatal through age 8). While the journal has a long history dating back to 1997, it has recently been revitalized and rebranded with an updated mission, focus, and scope. 

The mission of The Dialog: A Journal for Inclusive Early Childhood Professionals is to promote the translation of research to practice in pursuit of meaningful inclusion for young children and their families across early childhood personnel preparation, practice, and policy.

The Dialog fulfills its mission by:
  • Disseminating high quality research that is accessible to all members of the early childhood community who support young children (prenatal through age eight) and their families, 
  • Ensuring research is translated into actionable strategies in support of preservice and ongoing personnel preparation, inclusive practice, and policy, 
  • Centering the lived experiences of children, families, practitioners, and faculty/trainers, 
  • Providing an open forum to cultivate authentic partnerships across home, school, and community contexts by connecting families, researchers, preservice and ongoing professional development providers, students, and practitioners.

TED, TeDeC, and The Dialog share a commitment to open-access dissemination of high quality research and translation of that research to practice and effective personnel development. We look forward to what this partnership will bring!
