Author Biography

John R. Chaney, LaGuardia Community College, CUNY

John R. Chaney is widely recognized as an authority in developing effective agency collaborations that deliver essential transitional services for individuals returning from periods of incarceration. Currently serving as director of Criminal Justice programs at City University of New York’s LaGuardia Community College, he is perhaps best known for his notable appointment as an Administrative Manager with the high-profile Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office’s executive staff. Professor Chaney served as the Brooklyn DA’s Executive Director for the agency’s nationally acclaimed ComALERT reentry program, simultaneously serving as the coordinator for the Kings County Reentry Task Force, an appointment he received from the NY State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
